> Report of the world vitiviniculture situation in 2008 OIV – 29/06/09 - On 29 June 2009 in Zagreb (Croatia) the city hosting the XXXII World Congress of Vine and Wine, the Director General of the OIV, Mr Federico Castellucci acknowledged that the economic crisis likewise affected the world vitiviniculture sector, in the presence of the official representatives of the Member states of the OIV.
> III International Symposium of Malvasias, La Palma, Canary Island, Spain OIV - 19/06/2009 - The 3rd International Symposium of Malvasias was held in la Palma, in the Canary Islands (Spain), from 26-30 May 2009, under the patronage of the OIV.
> Research scholarships 2009 OIV - 16/06/09 - For the third straight year, the OIV is announcing research scholarships to young researchers in the vitivinicultural sector. The subjects proposed shall be in line with the actions laid out in the Strategic Plan 2009-2012 of the OIV.

> OIV attended the 31st session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission OIV – 08/08/2008 - From 30 June to 4 July 2008, Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), a joint body of the United Nations Organisation for Food and Agriculture (FAO) and the World Health Organisation (WHO), held its 31st session in Geneva (Switzerland). On this occasion, the representative of the OIV presented a report on the framework of the relationship between OIV and the Codex Alimentarius, to the delegations of the member countries of Codex Alimentarius. This presentation provided a summary of work currently undertaken by the OIV as well as the resolutions adopted by the 6th General Assembly of the OIV.
> Impact on the media from the OIV news conference on countries of the Southern hemisphere OIV - 31/07/2008 - Mr. Federico Castellucci, Director General of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine, presented statistical data on the countries of the Southern hemisphere at the press conference of the OIV on 4 June 2008. This data was used by the press, particularly by specialised publications, which gave rise to a large number of articles on an international and on a domestic level.
> 5th world wine producer becomes 44th member state of the OIV OIV – 29/07/2008 – Argentina deposited its instrument of ratification of the Agreement of 3 April 2001 with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the establishment of the OIV. This official procedure, endorsed by the President of the Republic, Ms Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, concludes an accession procedure for Argentina which adopted the decree 26.385 approving this international treaty.

> MARIO FREGONI, OIV Grand Prix Verona (Italy) – 20/06/2008 - The General Assembly of the OIV honoured the works of Professor Mario Fregoni for the world vine and wine community and bequeathed him the Grand OIV prize in Verona on 20 June 2008.
> Winners of the 2008 OIV Award Verona (Italy) – 18/06/08 – The Award jury of the O.I.V. has rewarded the best written works with a scientific input, original (new and personal input of ideas), pertinent and with an international scope for the vine and wine sector over the past 78 years. These works are evaluated by a panel of specialists (university professors, journalists, scientists, historians) in viticulture, oenology, vitivinicultural economy, wine and health, history, literature and fine arts.
> Report on the world vitiviniculture situation in 2007 OIV – 16/06/2008 – The Director General, Mr. Federico Castellucci presented a report on the world vitiviniculture situation in 2007 at the OIV Congress in Verona (Italy) in the presence of Mr. Luca Zaia, the Italian Minister of Agriculture and representatives of 43 Member states of the Organisation.
> Reform of the wine sector in Europe – New CMO wine OIV – 12/06/08 – Council Regulation (EC) No.479/2008 of 29 April 2008 introducing the common organisation of the vitivinicultural market was finally published in the European Union Official Journal of 06/06/2008. This text modifies regulations (EC) No.1493/1999, (EC) No.1782/2003, (EC) No.1290/2005 and (EC) No.3/2008, and repeals regulations (EC) No.2392/86 and (EC) No.1493/1999.
> Meeting with the Director General of the OIV and the Ambassador of Montenegro OIV - 10/06/08 - Montenegro became the 43rd Member state of the OIV on 7 March 2007. The Director General of the OIV, Mr. Federico Castellucci, received Ms Pejanovic-Djurisic, Ambassador of Montenegro on 10 June 2008.

> 61st World Health Assembly OIV – 03/06/2008 – The 61st World Health Assembly, which comprised of 2704 participants from 190 nations, was held from 19 to 24 May in Geneva. Issues regarding various threats to public health were raised and several resolutions were adopted.
> The Director General of the OIV visit to Cyprus OIV-16/05/2008-The Director General of the OIV, Mr Federico Castellucci visited Cyprus in order to participate in the 3rd Cyprus Wine Competition which took place between the 10th to the 13th of April 2008, in Pafos (in Cyprus).
> « Varieties of Autochthonous Vines of Calabria » Symposium OIV – 10/05/2008 – The « Varieties of Autochthonous Vines of Calabria » Symposium was held on 10 May 2008 in Cirò (KR in Italy) under the patronage of the OIV and the responsibility of Professor Mario Fregoni with the warm welcome of the EuVite association and the wine company, Librandi.
> PROFESSOR NICOLAÏ PAVLENKO HAS PASSED AWAY OIV – 27/03/2008 - The OIV is very sad to announce the passing away of Pr. Nicolaï Pavlenko at age 70. He was the President of the International Office of Vine and Wine from 1988 to 1991, after being an expert of the OIV for over fifteen years and President of the « Wine Technology » Expert group with the USSR.
> OIV Press Conference on world vitivinicultural trends in 2007 OIV – 26/03/2008 - Presentation of the State of the Vitiviniculture World Market report showing the world vitivinicultural situation in 2007 drawn up based on statistical data provided by the Member states of the Organisation.
> The Director General of the OIV visit to Slovakia Mr. Federico Castellucci, the Director General of the OIV, made an official visit to Slovakia from 3 to 6 February 2008, upon the initiative of and organised by His Excellency, Mr Frantisek Lipka, former ambassador of Slovakia in Belgium and Luxemburg.
> The Director General of the OIV visit to the World Health Organisation head quarters (WHO) OIV – 25/02/2008 – The department of mental health of the WHO General Secretariat in Geneva organised a consultation meeting on statistical data on spirituous beverages which the OIV was invited, based on the statistical data it draws up on the vitivinicultural sector. Certain representatives of offices and statistical institutes in addition to representatives of associations of beer and spirits industries attended the meeting.
> The WHO proposes strategies to reduce the harmful use of alcohol by 2010 OIV – 28/01/2008 – 34 member states of the Executive Committee of the World Health Organisation (WHO) met this week in Geneva and drafted a resolution to be submitted for adoption of the 61st World Health Assembly in 2008, based on the report of the WHO secretariat.
> Wine Festival of Porto OIV- 14/01/2008 – On the occasion of the Porto Wine Festival, from 11 to 15 November 2007, upon the invitation of the Municipal Chamber of Porto, Mr. Castellucci, Director General of the OIV, participated in the International Conference « Dialogue between the New World and the Old World: International cooperation in the wine sector » within the framework of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network.
> OIV Street in Moldavia OIV- 14/01/2008 – The government of Moldavia invited Mr Castellucci, Director General of the OIV, to participate along side the Moldavian Prime Minister, Mr. Vasile Petru Tarlev, from 24 to 29 October 2007 in a news conference on the issue of vitiviniculture and to partake, upon the initiative of Mr. Mihail Maciuca, Director of the State Entreprise Quality Wines Complex « Milestii Mici », in an exceptional ribbon cutting ceremony for the naming of “OIV Street”; demonstrating the commitment of Moldavia to be involved in the international vitivinicultural sector.
> VINANDINO – 8th Edition OIV- 14/01/2008 - Mr. Castellucci, Director General of the OIV, and Mr. Hayes, President of the OIV, went to Argentina from 23 November to 3 December 2007 for the 8th Edition of the VINANDINO International Wine Competition.
> Passing away of Professor Michel Feuillat OIV – 07/01/2008 The OIV was very saddened to hear about the passing away of Professor Michel Feuillat at age 70.
